The project is now complete. We would like to thank the Home Owner, Jim Lord, for being one of the most easy going clients we have had yet to work with, and for being so gracious with the time frame of the project. We would like to say a special thanks for his patience and ease of decision making; he truly made this project possible. The next person we would like to thank from the bottom of our heart is Ludivine Kail from Livein Interiors. The creativity and follow-through that this woman has is outstanding. Every piece, texture, placement, color, etc. that she chose and molded for this project is perfect: the lights, counters, table, chairs, buffet, wall paper, and on and on. Ludivine, you rule our world. We would also like to thank Brent Rigby, the contractor. There really aren't words to describe what its like to find someone with as much integrity, respect and honor as Brent has. All we can say is...we can't wait to work with you again and again.

Fox Shipping Container Home In INDIGOGREEN's NeighborhoodFriday, 01 October 2010 00:00 PROJECT: The Fox Shipping Container Home Owner: Tom Fox They were once a lonely collection of shipping containers, filled with shoes, or computer parts, or maybe a collection of plastic what-nots bound for Wal-Mart. But now they are bound to be a home for local owner Tom Fox designed by visionary architect Stephen Bender. The soon-to-be LEED and FGBC certified home will be a first for Gainesville and a first for Florida. Featuring a green wall, a green roof, and outfitted for pv solar, the shipping container home will also have yard of edible landscaping fed by a rainwater harvesting system. According to the MWBa website, Tom wanted a "very energy efficient and low-impact home, and a house that can accommodate roommates yet provide him privacy". The home's construction uses "nine 40' hicube containers and one 20' hicube container. The 40 footers are arranged in a three story bank of two and a three story stack one container wide, with a four foot gap in between. The gap contains vertical circulation and space for routing building systems." Look for more updates from the construction Fox shipping container home located in the Porter's neighborhood just around the corner from INDIGO or go here to Architect Stephen Bender's website: www.mwbender.com. Janet Kearney's Recycled Glass Countertops (Stunning!)Wednesday, 01 September 2010 00:00 PROJECT: Janet Kearney's Recycled Glass Countertops Owner: Janet Kearney Sustainable Materials Implemented: - Recycled Glass Countertops - Used locally-sourced materials that are up to 80% Recycled Concrete Matrix. "Stunning," is what Janet Kearney had to say when she first laid eyes on her newly-installed countertop. She even claimed that she couldn't stop staring and running her hand over the concrete/recycled glass countertops that are now the centerpiece of her newly remodeled kitchen. All glass used in this project was 100% Recycled Glass. Designed, cast, engineered, and installed by a local artisan, this countertop was hard for even him to let go of. One of his favorite color combinations to date, INDIGOGreen made this job an easy success for everyone involved. That was especially true for our customer Janet, who was consulted early on by the INDIGOGreen team with color choice, sustainable options, and a local partnership. This project is a great example of what INDIGOGreen has always offered and has become exceptional at: giving you sustainable choices with a highly knowledgeable staff that keeps it local so your dollars stay local. Stanley Residence Goes for LEEDSunday, 01 August 2010 00:00 PROJECT: The Stanley Residence Goes for LEED Sustainable Materials Implemented: - Niagara’s 0.8 GPF Stealth™ : Ultra High Efficiency Toilet with a low-profile body and patented hydraulic technology. Using SIP (Structural Insulated Panel) construction throughout the walls and roof, the Stanley's wanted to achieve as close to a net-zero home as possible without having to install a large solar array. With builder Ivan Solbach eyeing every penny of the construction process, they are very conscious of every aspect of their new "green home" coming in on budget, while being as sustainable as they can make it. Building his 4th new "green home" in 3 years, Solabach is helping the Stanley's with other green aspects, such as a 4,600 gallon rain water harvesting system, a PEX manifold plumbing system, solar thermal hot water, high-efficiency mini-split A/C system, highly reflective metal roof, concrete floors, and super high-efficiency 0.8 gallon per flush Niagara toilets from INDIGOGreen. Suppliers of Sustainable Materials that made this project possible: The Ivan Solbach Company: Placing energy efficiency and environmental awareness amongst its highest priorities. For more information on projects similar to the Stanley residence's, check with the local USGBC Heart of Florida calendar. The Knowles' Bathroom RemodelThursday, 01 July 2010 00:00 PROJECT: The Knowles' Bathroom Remodel Sustainable Materials Implemented: - Concrete Countertop: Made from locally sourced materials that are up to 80% recycled concrete matrix. - American Clay Sealer: Low-VOC (25g/liter) product that increases the durability and water-resistance of the final plaster. The Knowles DIY team hired a local artisan to design and cast their concrete countertop. Using the American Clay on their bathroom walls, they decided to seal the clay from about 40" and down to prevent any severe "running" of the clay from direct, heavy, water splashing. Hal Knowles does have one bit of advice on after taping it off to look like a mulit-color wainscoat. "Be aware for your customers that the sealer absolutely changes the color/look of the clay". Local Solar Walk Artist Uses INDIGOGreenThursday, 01 July 2010 00:00 PROJECT: The "True North" Sundial Sustainable Materials Implemented: - Recycled glass-concrete mixture: Used locally sourced materials that are up to 80% Recycled Concrete Matrix. - Jellybean Pebbles: A unique product that finds an additional use for recycled glass bottles. Elizabeth Indianos is better known in Gainesville as the artist behind the solar walk stretching along 8th Ave. An interactive art installment that stretches like the ever-expanding imagination within the ever-expanding universe, it used recycled materials in it's construction to make a statement of commitment to sustainable art. In her most recent work an interactive sundial she used recycled material once again, this time with our help. The True North-Niceville Sundial is a recent artwork reflecting INDIGOGreen's influence and inspiration. The work is a large scale sundial installed on the campus of Northwest Florida State College, not far from the beaches in the Florida panhandle. Art features include a sun made from multicolored, recycled glass-concrete mixture and a Little Dipper Bear made from jellybean rocks, a natural stone product that is also sourced from INDIGOGreen. The Sundial both requires and insists that participants stand on the dial to establish "True North," so that they may find their own relative position and time on the planet. Honored to help her work be realized, below is a excerpt from her introduction to "True North". When INDIGOGreen opened its doors in 2007 stating a "commitment to our planet, our community, our families and ourselves to live smarter" I was thrilled and excited. Through partnership with INDIGOGreen I learned about many non-conventional, highly creative products and concepts that would help me do my part as an artist working to sustain a planet with diminishing resources.
